RON RUSS, MS, ATC

Head Athletic Trainer

Mr. Russ is entering his thirtieth year as the Head Athletic Trainer and his twenty-fifth year as a full-time teacher. Mr. Russ works in the Physical Welfare Department teaching Sports Medicine and Driver Education. In addition to his full-time teaching assignments, he is responsible for the administration of the Sports Medicine Program. Mr. Russ is a Certified Athletic Trainer (AT) by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) and Licensed in the State of Illinois. He also holds professional memberships with the Great Lakes Athletic Trainers’ Association (GLATA) and the Illinois Athletic Trainers’ Association (IATA). Mr. Russ received his Master of Science degree in Sports Medicine from the University of Arizona and his Bachelor of Science degree from Ball State University. Part of his career included being the Head Athletic Trainer in professional football and being an Assistant Athletic Trainer with the Chicago Bears and Detroit Lions. His clinical experience included being the Director of Sports Medicine at two area hospital programs along with patient rehabilitation in the physical therapy departments. Also clinically, he has worked for Physical Therapy Services, LTD and treated athletes from the Chicago Blackhawks, Bulls, and Chicago Soccer Club “Sting”. His career also gave him an opportunity to appear in the Warner Brothers movie “Wildcats” with Goldie Hawn.

 

KATHRYN JURCA

Assistant Athletic Trainer

Kathryn has worked at LHS as an athletic trainer since 2013. She is employed by Athletico Physical Therapy and has worked in both the high school and clinic setting.

 

SARA WRIGHT

Assistant Athletic Trainer

Sara has worked at LHS as an athletic trainer since 1998. Sara has been a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) since 1994. She is certified by the National Athletic Trainers’ and licensed by the State of Illinois.
